In some cases graft survival can fall below expectations, or design flaws become apparent. Recognizing this early widens the range of solutions available.

Possible Signs (should be assessed after month 12)

  • No meaningful density increase in the transplanted area by months 9-12
  • Patchy, irregular growth pattern
  • A hairline that doesn't suit the natural facial features
  • Permanent, prominent scar tissue
  • Ongoing pain, redness, or signs of inflammation (which may indicate infection/complication and should be addressed separately)

An Important Distinction

Worrying about "no results" at months 6-8 is usually just part of the normal healing process (see Month-by-Month Recovery Timeline) — a genuine failure assessment should only be made after months 12-18.

What to do: If concerned, first discuss it with the original surgeon; if the result truly falls short, seek a second expert opinion and consider revision surgery options.
