Infection and bleeding are generally preventable complications that can appear in the early post-op period.

Signs of Infection

  • Increasing redness and warmth (beyond normal healing redness)
  • Yellow/greenish discharge
  • Worsening pain (rather than the expected decline)
  • Fever
  • Foul odor from the area

Infection risk rises with non-sterile equipment, inadequate hygiene protocols, or a patient not following aftercare instructions.

Bleeding

Mild oozing during and immediately after the procedure is normal. Excessive bleeding is usually linked to blood thinner use, uncontrolled hypertension, or clotting disorders — which is why accurately disclosing medication history beforehand is critical.

What to do: If infection is suspected, don't attempt self-treatment — contact the clinic immediately. Early intervention leads to full recovery in most cases.
